Abbots beat Leverstock Green in county league fixture

Abbots Langley hosted local rivals Leverstock Green, who won the toss and put the home side in to bat.

John Matthew opened the bowling with Luke Mortimore facing, finding it difficult to get bat to ball. With 30 on the board, Michael Burgess miscued and was bowled for 20, bringing in Jack Read who helped put on 41 before being caught for 19, Mortimore was then bowled for 31.

Bradley Finch and Matt Parkins added another 46 when Finch was caught for 25 followed by Parkins bowled for 28, to become captain Charlie Mahanama's 3rd wicket and the score 5/135. Nick Gurney ramped up the heat, losing 3 partners and hitting 6 4's and 3 6's, before he was caught for the top score of 63, leaving Rajiv Purohit and Ben Chase to see the overs out and post 9/239.

Arnav Patel and Jamie Wallis opened the batting for the visitors, Ollie Sills and Ben Chase bowling tightly. It took until the 14th over for Wallis to succumb to the spin of James Allan, bowled round his legs for 19, then having Sulamaan Manzoor caught behind for 5 and Jimmy Pickard for 2, giving him 3/28. Gurney joined in the fray by bowling opener Patel for 38 and Dayle Littlejohn caught for 10.

With the score 5/124, Purohit, with his left arm spin, removed Nahim Iqbal for 22. Parkins, returning for his second spell, trapped top scorer Alex King LBW for 47 and bowled Mahanama for a 2 ball duck.

With Sills removing Matthew for 1, Parkins  took his 3rd wicket (3/30) with Burgess taking his 3rd catch to leave the visitors all out for 179 and Abbots claiming the 30 points.
Abbots, had a very successful day with all 5 teams winning.
