Like much of the country, I was overjoyed after England took on the heat and Erling Haaland in muggy Miami and made it through to the World Cup semi-finals.
As I write to make the paper’s deadline, Argentina lie in wait and the result is unknown.
However, England only win the World Cup under a Labour government, so that’s a good omen.
It’s VAR these days that’s the hand of God!
Whatever the outcome, the St George’s flag remains proudly and prominently displayed in my constituency office window.
Last week, I was pleased to accompany James Murray, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care around Watford General Hospital.
Mr Murray learned exactly how staff had been able to eliminate corridor care completely.
Not only are patients getting better and more dignified treatment, but it’s also a real fillip for everyone involved in making it happen.
Hearty congratulations to them all.
Subsequently, I’ve personally heard him singing the praises of the hospital trust and the amazing work they have done to other MPs in Parliament, so hopefully, others nationwide can replicate the success we’ve seen here.
I also held a ‘Tea with your MP’ event at Watford Library, having hired a very nice room, which was well-attended.
I would like to thank everyone who signed my petition and responded to my successful campaign to keep the central library open on Sundays, which is a family time.
Wednesday saw the last Prime Minister’s Questions for Sir Keir Starmer and I was fortunate to be able to ask him about the government’s work building safer communities to prevent division and hatred.
I wish him and his family all the best for the future.
