Watford have revived a potential deal for Leicester City winger Stephy Mavididi as they target at least one winger on transfer deadline day.
The Hornets had agreed a season-loan loan for Fiorentina wide player Riccardo Sottil, who had a medical at London Colney on Monday, and the Italian may still join - though it now appears to be Mavididi who is likely to sign as the priority.
The club have been in the market for a winger since Nestory Irankunda left the club at the beginning of the month and had previously looked at Mavididi but deemed a move to be too expensive.
Jocelin Ti Ba of Sunderland was another option the Hornets eventually passed on, but the Mavididi deal is back on track - though there have been conflicting accounts of whether it will be a permanent or loan switch.
Mavididi came through the Arsenal academy and was sent on three EFL loans before signing for Juventus in 2018.
He then joined Montpellier in France, where he scored 21 goals in 98 matches for the Ligue 1 club.
Leicester signed him for a reported fee of €7.5 million in 2023 and he starred as the Foxes won the Championship title, scoring 12 goals and assisting six in 2023/24.
He then played 30 times in a Premier League relegation season and another 42 as City were relegated again in 2025/26.
In other positions, Watford are set to seal a season-long loan deal for Branimir Mlacic from Udinese, while another defender is being targeted today.
Jamaal Lascelles, Teden Mengi and Adam Masina are among the possibilities, though other options are said to be alive, too.
Upfront, Myron Boadu is likely to pen a permanent deal, while Michail Antonio is still training and remains in talks to sign - and as a free agent, is not governed by tonight's 11pm deadline.
