WATFORD have been linked with former Brentford and Barnsley full-back Paul Gibbs, but it is an old story.
"I did contact him when he was released by Barnsley because that was around the time I was trying to come to terms with the fact Paul Robinson was being sold," said Vicarage Road boss Ray Lewington.
"I had not seen him play for two years but remembered him from my time at Brentford.
"I invited him down for a trial and told him that I was not sure I could offer him anything but there might be a possibility," explained the manager.
"He is a left-back and he had just been paid up and offered to play for me for nothing.
"In our position, we have to look at such things. He wanted to get into the shop window.
"It is no longer valid and I don't know why the story should come up now."
