SEAN DYCHE has been appointed the new Watford captain after Neil Cox asked to step down.
Watford boss Ray Lewington admitted: "It is not my decision. Coxy came to see me at the start of pre-season. He just felt he had enough of the responsibility and, with a big year in front of him as his contract ends next summer, he wanted to concentrate on his game.
"He took the job very seriously as you would expect.
"It is not only the on-field things which the captain has to deal with. There are the off-the-field items as well, such as making sure the players do their community work."
