Yeovil Town are keen to extend the loan of Gavin Massey even though the Watford striker is yet to start for the club.

Massey joined Yeovil on a one-month loan on September 12 and the 18-year-old has made four substitute appearances so far.

“I will definitely be looking to extend that,” Town boss Terry Skiverton replied when asked about Massey’s loan.

“He is a good lad, he has trained really well and he will be getting his chance sooner rather than later.

“He has been very patient, he has come in and he has been a good character to have around the squad.”

Massey and new arrival Oli Johnson, who is on loan from Norwich City, both scored in a friendly last week and were used substitutes in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Bury.

In the build-up to Saturday match, Skiverton hinted that Massey could make his first professional start in tomorrow night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash with Bournemouth.

Skiverton told the Western Gazette: “We have got two games coming up with the game on Saturday and the game on Tuesday so between the four of them they will be featuring and starting in those games.

“I have got that in my mind and we will just be going off what goes on this weekend to see who I will be starting with on Tuesday.”
