Kings Langley Cricket Club held their annual colts awards ceremony as the club celebrated arguably their most successful season ever.

The club’s Under-9s, Under-10’s, Under-14’s and Under-15’s all comfortably won their respective Herts League divisions with most of them boasting 100 per cent records.

In addition to those incredible feats, the Under-15’s were crowned county champions and won their second local Twenty20 competition in three years, while the Under-10’s and Under-14’s were beaten in the county playoff finals.

The evening was also used as an opportunity to thank the colts for their dedication to training, as well as the coaches who give up their time to run the teams.

In addition to the awards for each age group, the clubs has five separate overall prizes up for grabs.

The Bill Townley Award for promising young cricketer was a new award for this season, named in memory of Bill who died two years ago, aged 92.

He and his family played at Kings Langley for many years and were active social members of the club.

Mrs Townley presented the award to the inaugural winner, David Burnell.

The Peter Griffiths Award for overall best colt was presented to Ben Joyce by Nick Turner of Debenhams Ottaway Solicitors, who have sponsored the club for the last four years.

The Paul Tinworth Award for most improved colt went to George Calcutt while the Reg Gray Award for teamwork went to Daniel Thompson.

Elsewhere, Charles Holroyd Scholarships were presented to Joe O’Brien, Alistair Brown, Sam Denham, Liberty Maher, Jack Lee, Tom Atkins, Charlie Frost and Ben Percy.

In the beginners section, Harry Spacey was named as Player of the Season.

For the Under-9’s team, Sam Hargrove was named Most Improved Player while Josh Yeo scooped the Best Bowler award. Chris Whittaker was Best Batsman and Elliot Hutchings was player of the season.

In the Under-10’s team, Maher was named most improved and Scott Rolfe player of the season. Alex Lee was the side’s best bowler and George Langston the best batsman.

For the Under-13’s, Charlie Hawtin was most improved and Sam Joyce was named player of the season. Toby Hendy claimed the best bowler award and Sam Mullins that of best batsman.

Calcutt was named most improved in the Under-14’s, with Jamie Dealey being best bowler and Simon Walker best batsman. Player of the season was Shandy Ratnakuram.

In the Under-15’s, Bradley Storey was chosen as most improved while Michael Barton was best bowler. Curtis Reynolds was named best batsman and Philip Gallagher was player of the season.
