THE Arsenal manager mixed the reasonable with the unreasoned after Sunday's game.

'I thought we were very lucky to be 3-0 ahead and it was one of our more fortunate victories overall. If Watford play like that all season, I cannot understand why they do not have more points,' he said.

'Having gone three goals ahead, at half time we did expect the second half to be a lot easier than it was. They scored two goals as we lost our concentration, but after that awkward 20 minutes, we did not have any real problems.'

On the Vieira incident, Wenger said: 'If the player was head-butted and went down as he did, then he should not have played any more but gone straight to hospital.

'Patrick was very upset by an earlier challenge. That is the incident you should focus on. His thigh looks as if it cut by a knife. He was wrong to get involved but he did not do what they say he did. I believe Helguson threw himself backwards and stayed down. Patrick has touched him with his chest.'
