Little Hay Golf Club Ladies retained their lead in the national Mary Forster Bowl competition.

The ladies are leading by one point after two matches in the knockout stage against Brent Valley and Blue Mountain Ladies.

The last round will be played at Little Hay on March 10 with the winners going through to the regional final.

There is still everything to play for after the sixth round of the Little Hay Winter League. Leading are Mick and Gary Whelan on 254 points with Phil Chester and Richard Burgess pushing Steve Pinnock and Keith Muir down to third with 251.

The pick of the sixth stage was the 45 points scored by Alan Christie and Pauline Manning and 44 points from Barbara Frostand Mick Milne.

Little Hay Senior Men travelled to Mentmore’s Rothschild course last Thursday and the star of the day was was former Senior’s captain Terry Silverton who shot a hole in one.

The shot, achieved on the par three 12th hole, also won him the nearest to the pin award.

The highest score of the day was by Vic Allen with 40 points followed by Paul Whiter with 36.

The team prize went to Michael Clark, Sid King, John Ridgewell and Paul Whiter. Linda Cusick was crowned champion in the annual ladies Bingo Bango Bongo competition.

Cusick finished the tournament, in which players gain points by deeds of golfing skill over 18 holes, with 28 points.

Second was Caroline Banks with 21 points and third Suzanne Brady with 19 points.
