Oxhey Jets have taken an unusual step in readying the squad for the new campaign as the squad reported back for pre-season training.

The Spartan South Midlands Premier Division side will be looking to finish higher up the table this season but have so far seen their preparations hit by the weather.

With that in mind, the club have had to be creative and have moved their training indoors to the swimming pool.

Benny Higham’s squad this week took part in an aqua training programme organised by Hertsmere Leisure at the Sir James Altham pool.

General Manager John Elliott said: “Hertsmere Leisure do a great job with the aqua training programme, and this is just the sort of fitness training we need to be ready for the start of the season, including our opening FA Cup game against Leverstock Green.

“With the weather as it is, it’s a great and fun way to get the training we need.”
