Watford Sunday League round-up

Four out of the league's five representatives made it through to the second round of the Senior Cup.

Hammer had a 5-3 win over Woodside with goals from Ryan Denham, Leon Hoyes, Mark Welling, Chris Blundell and J Toomey.

St Josephs came good with a 5-1 away victory at Bishops Stortford Swifts.

Liam Sonner and Kevin McKenna shared four goals with Lewis Koch also netting.

Bushey came away from Bury Rangers with an 8-3 triumph through an Ashley Harwood hat-trick and further strikes from Daryl Brown, Hugo Figuerado, Jamie Brown, Ashley Dunn-Watt and an own goal.

The biggest win if the day saw Croxley Green Community Centre smash The Bridge House 13-2.

Will Wilson, Steven Barrow and Harry Block all scored trebles, Dan Paige netted twice and there was one apiece for Andy Avis and Robby Martin.

The only team to taste defeat were FC Crescent, who lost by the only goal of the game at Cassiobury Rangers.

Turner Trophies Challenge Cup Round One

Ebury Guild got their first victory of the season, coming from behind twice and needing extra-time to beat a hard-working Railway Arms side 4-2.

After a strong start from their opponents, Railway took the lead midway through the first half when a soft penalty was converted by Michael Latham.

Ebury kept going and equalised when a quick throw-in was converted by Rishi Doshi.

A third goal was scored soon after the restart when a Railway cross by Duncan Sands was put into his own net by captain Rob Duncan.

Guild managed to create chances but couldn’t convert with eight minutes remaining, manager Anthony Hrano came on to allow stand-in goalkeeper Gino De Antonis to try and grab an equaliser.

The last throw of the dice worked as, with just a minute left, De Antonis converted a free-kick from 25 yards out to dorce extra-time.

With legs tiring, Ebury had the edge and De Antonis grabbed a second after being played through by Doshi.

Railway only managed one chance of note after that and with almost the last kick of the game Ollie Edwards made the result safe with a thunderous strike from the edge of the area.

In an amazing game at Gadeside, their Division Four Reserves lost a titanic battle 5-4 against first division Chorleywood Club.

Chris May (2) and a hat-trick from James Webb ultimately saw Chorleywood through after Jamie Moran (2), Spencer Edwards and Ben Howes had netted for their battling opponents.

But there were plenty of surprises elsewhere as fellow Division One side Old Fullerians (Ben Williams) went down 4-1 at home to third division Woodlands United, with three-goal Tommy Kelly mainly responsible.

Another upset saw Daryl Gillibrand's brace and further goals from Craig Bartlett and Jerome Driscoll fire The Pavillion, of Division Three, to a 4-0 win over a Wellington Arms Reserves side from a tier higher.

Division Four outfit Racing Santandome knocked out Shenley Wood (Division Three) 3-1 thanks to a hat trick from Chris Dunn, with James Percival replying.

AFC Spartians, of the first division, had a comfortable 5-1 victory over Division Two's Victoria through a Tom Horton treble and two from Darren Lancaster.

But in probably the best game of the day, Division Four's West Watford edged out AFC Oddfellows, from a division higher, 6-5.

Watford's taget men were Aamer Khan (2), Basit Hameed, Tahir Azam, Navee Ahmed and Ajmel Ahmed, with hat-trick hitting Connor Flanagan, Carlos Chase and Darren Birchall on the losing side.

Premier Division

Oakview had a big fight to defeat strugglers Wellington Arms 1-0 and maintain their 100 per cent record through a sole Adam Lowton goal.

Division One

West Herts may have beaten CK Guild 4-1 but the game was closer than the scoreline suggests.

The Stags were unable to break the deadlock until the 60th minute when French midfielder Cedric Felder finally found the net.

Substitute Vlad Dragomir came off the bench to make it 2-0 and Roger Lake added another two before Aaron Farrell netted Guild's consolation goal from a corner.

Rifle Volunteer lost out in a ten-goal thriller at table-toppers Langleybury Cricket Club, going down 6-4.

Rifle's first-half performance was described as "shocking" by manager Mark Pow, and all they had to show for their poor effort was a Myles Hall 30-yard strike as they went in 3-1 down at the break.

The visitors came out with all guns blazing at the start of the second half but they couldn't turn their superiority into goals and it was Langleybury who went further in front.

Volunteer's top scorer Hugh Trayte did finally get on the scoresheet to make it but it didn't take long for the hosts to score again as they made it 5-2 with 20 minutes remaining.

Rifle continued to attack and when captain George Wells floated a delightful ball into the Bury box it was Trayte who superbly headed home.

With ten minutes to go, Andy Lomas' run into the box was halted by a rash challenge and Trayte completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot to give his side a real chance of taking something from the game.

However, when the visitors committed men forward for a last minute corner which then got cleared, it was Bury who sealed the game when a shot from just inside the opposition half found its way into the back of an unguarded net.

Langleybury’s scorers were four-goal Dennis Malollari, plus Aaron Whitingham and Charles Hailey.

Mill End Sports had a comfortable 6-2 away win against Green Dragon thanks to a hat-trick from Glen O’Malley and one each for Craig Horwood, Craig Brownsell and Jordon Robinson. Tony Browne and David O’Sullivan replied.

Division Two

Bushey Bimecc maintained their 100 per cent league record with a 10-2 demolition of Dome Bar Area.

There were four goals for the lethal Paul Kenwright, three for pacey winger Luke Tarrant and one apiece for Jordon Sibthorp, Calum Foley and captain Ryan Macdonald.

AFC Bushey had a good 3-2 win against leaders Oxhey Jets, with goals from Matt Green, Ryan Legge and Ryan Turnbull. Lewis Putman scored for Jets.

Sun Postal Sports beat Hammer Reseves 5-3, with Gary Wickes and Joe Chance (2) netting for the visitors.

Division Three

Evergreen had a big 10-0 victory over Sun Postal United.

Andrew Murphy hit five goals, with Johnny Daily, Jack Smith, Spencer Brown and Oliver Weston also scoring.

Division Four

James Byatt scored both of the goals for Oxhey Lions that defeated Rickmansworth Athletic 2-1, while Rickmansworth Rovers had a fine 6-1 victory over AFC Bushey Reserves.
