Mauro Zarate got some valuable match minutes under his belt to continue his return from injury as Watford beat Millwall 4-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their London Colney training base today.
The creative Argentine player, who returned to full training last month after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in only his third appearance for the club in January, played the second-half after replacing Richarlison.
One of the Hornets’ third Deadline Day signings, Marvin Zeegelaar, also came on at the break as the hosts secured the win thanks to second-half goals from Isaac Success (2), Andre Gray and Etienne Capoue.
Watford: Gartside; Mariappa (Eleftheriou 65), Kabasele (Rowan 46), Britos, Holebas (Zeegelaar 46); Watson (Doucoure 46), Capoue (Okaka 67); Success, Cleverley (Hughes 46), Richarlison (Zarate 46); Deeney (Gray 46).
