A former poultry farm could be converted into a housing development after plans were submitted.

Buildings at Woodlands Poultry Farm in Nash Mills would be demolished and replaced with 37 homes.

The site in Woodlands Road is described as in a “poor state of repair” and no longer in use as a farm – and the land has been purchased by developer City & Suburban.

A planning statement by agent Savills reveals a total of 37 new homes would be built – 17 houses and a block of 20 flats.

This includes 18 private three-bed properties with the rest either one or two bedrooms.

The development would comply with Three Rivers District Council’s affordable housing policies with 17 of the 37 homes designated as affordable. This includes 70% available for social rent, 5% for intermediate rent, and 25% as First Homes.

There would be 78 car parking spaces with the development accessed from Woodlands Road. No changes appear to be planned in Woodlands Road but a footpath has been mooted for Hyde Lane.

The homes would be built around a “public square” and play area in the centre for residents.

Situated within the green belt, Savills argues the scheme delivers “much needed” homes and a “high-quality extension to the existing residential neighbourhood”.

The plans can be viewed on the council’s planning portal via reference 22/1692/FUL.
