Although winter is nearly over and spring is in reach, the cold wintry temperatures and conditions are still going strong. 

In some areas, you might find it to be slightly warmer, but not for long as forecasters suggest that snow is set to hit Watford next week. 

Watford is expected to be covered by a blanket of snow and sleet on Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2, according to the latest forecasts. 

It comes as BBC weather shared that chilly conditions will appear after the region experienced mild conditions over winter. 

The forecasters also stated that next week will see conditions turn colder which could see some disruption to Watford residents. 

Watford is to get snow in the coming days

Fellow weather forecaster, the Met Office also predicts snow to hit parts of the region in the coming days. 

Its weather outlook forecast states: "Widely cold at first with frost in many areas and icy stretches in places, daytime maxima rather cold.

"Later, mostly fair weather with variable cloud and some clear and sunny spells with a few overnight fog patches possible. Perhaps a few wintry showers, mainly on eastern coasts."

The forecast of snow comes after Hertfordshire Highways reassured drivers that roads are being prepared for a potential Beast from the East 2.

It previously shared: "We work very closely with weather forecasters to ensure that conditions are constantly monitored so we can take appropriate action.

"To get ahead of this problem, Hertfordshire does a lot of work, usually during the summer, sealing road surfaces and pavements with a range of treatments to keep the water and frost out and to prolong the condition. This preventative approach is much more cost-effective than repairing potholes after the event and is recognised as good practice in the industry."
