Police have released CCTV footage of a BMW doing doughnuts around petrol pumps before the driver was handed a suspended prison sentence.

Dominic Manley, of Horseshoe Lane in Watford, was caught driving at “excessive speed” and narrowly missing pumps in the Shell petrol station forecourt and the A405 dual carriageway in Chiswell Green.

The 24-year-old admitted to dangerous driving at St Albans Crown Court on October 7.

Manley was given a suspended sentence of a year in prison, suspended for two years, as well as 240 hours of unpaid work and a fine of £50.

He must also complete a thinking skills programme.

PC Clare Lapenna said: “He was traveling at excessive speed and put other road users at risk that day. Fortunately no-one was injured but it could have been a different story.”

The court heard the footage was taken on January 16 during a “pre-arranged car meet”.

PC Lapenna added: “We have had numerous complaints from members of the public about the A405 being used for car meets and this is one of our neighbourhood priorities in St Albans East and London Colney.
