Lightning has struck twice on the BBC leaving television viewers baffled and bemused.

During a weather forecast about thunderstorms presented by Carol Kirkwood this morning, several Abbots Langleys bizarrely appeared across the map.

But it’s not the first time this has happened – the village shot to fame last November when ‘Abbots Langley’ was pasted numerous times in Scotland hundreds of miles away from where it actually is during a BBC One forecast.

This morning’s blunder did not go unnoticed either with many taking to Twitter to share their amusement.

Jon Tonge posted: “Feel for Abbots Langley today. Wherever it keeps locating, thunderstorms follow”, while another said the BBC was suffering from effects of the heatwave.

Twitter user Blue Fox said: “I'm going to put Abbots Langley into Waze just to see how confused it gets”, while Christine Bagot asked “will the real Abbots Langley please stand up?”.

Alun Bishop wrote: “Heck of a disruption for the poor people of Abbots Langley”, while Keith Anderson concluded that we should “expect outbreaks of Abbots Langley”.

Eagle-eyed John Bull remarked: “The thing I noticed is that none of the locations are where Abbots Langley actually is.”

Jeremy Carter warned of global domination for Abbots Langley, saying: “The evidence is clear everyone, #AbbotsLangley has already taken most of England. It’ll have spread across the world by the end of the week.”
