A gambling company has been granted permission to expand and rebrand in Watford town centre.
Two planning applications by Merkur Casino UK were approved by Watford Borough Council on December 19.
The building in The Parade had formerly been occupied by Cashino and Phone Point.

Under the proposals Cashino would become Merkur Slots as part of a national rebrand for the business and the division between the two sites would be knocked through.
The change of use for the store was considered acceptable as Cashino was already operating slot machines there, several other betting and gambling shops exist in the town centre, and “the site has been vacant for a considerable time”.
In the application, the company says Merkur Slots should not be put in the same category as betting shops because of the low stakes.
It added that the average stake from customers is between 30p and 40p with the maximum allowed being £2.
A Merkur spokesperson said: "The new look venue will ensure much-needed investment is made into the local high street at what is a challenging time for leisure and retail.
"We look forward to continuing to play an active role in the local community."
Phone Point is now in another location in High Street.
