In the last year we have seen several shops, pubs and eateries close, largely due to the cost-of-living crisis.

As people are tightening their belts, less money is being spent and business have felt the impact.

Jack & Jones store
Located in Atria Watford, the men’s clothing store closed in January 2022. All of Jack and Jones stores closed in England at the time.   

The Cha Café

The café closed on August 31 because the owners Brian and Mandy Evans retired. There is currently no news on whether it will be taken over.

The shop’s last day was on September 11. The store’s staff were offered jobs at its other stores.  

The Horns

The pub and live music venue shocked regulars when it announced it had closed on October 30. It declared it was no longer “financially stable” and was in £50,000 worth of debt.

Following talks with the pub’s landlord, the team was able to open again on November 18 and has lined up a wealth of talent to perform at the venue to help raise money.

Mr Tings Thai Cuisine

The restaurant based in Nascot Arms pub closed on November 7.

Despite the closure, the owners hope it would be temporary, but there is still no announcement of it opening any time soon.

Columbia Press

Although the pub hasn’t closed it was put of for sale on September 27.

The pub giant, which operates around 800 boozers, said it was a “commercial decision”.

Joules
The clothing store closed suddenly on December 1.

The store in Atria Watford was one of 19 Joules shops across England to close.
