Café in the Park is “thrilled” as it gets set to reopen the former Cha Café building in Cassiobury Park by the end of next month.

The owners are getting ready to launch their new café offer at the tea pavilion with a focus on locally sourced, freshly made, and healthy food, after being chosen by Watford Borough Council.

Café in the Park also operates cafés in Linmere, near Luton, and Rickmansworth.

Its wealth of experience was one of the reasons it was chosen to take over the building and it is looking to bring the same range of freshly baked bread and cakes and produce from its small farm in Radlett to Watford.

The pavilion building will also be undergoing improvement work ahead of the opening, the business confirmed, with a “carefully planned refurbishment”.

Watford Observer:

Owner Julie said: “We are thrilled to have been selected by Watford Borough Council to run the much-loved café at the tea pavilion.

"As a locally based business, we understand how important the building and café are to Cassiobury Park and we are looking forward to becoming part of the park’s community, with an offer that I think people are really going to enjoy.

“We are focusing on creating a warm welcome for our customers as well as continuing the ‘dog-friendly’ tradition at the tea pavilion.”

It is set to open by the end of May and will be serving customers daily during park hours. The new menu featuring a range of locally sourced and sustainable ingredients, including vegetarian and vegan options.

Watford Observer:

The building was left empty when the former tenants, the Cha Café's owners, retired in August last year.

With no replacement tenant in place at the time, the owners, customers, and Watford Borough Council said they hoped the “wonderful” café can remain as a community-focused operation.

When the business was announced as the council’s choice Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: “We are very excited to be welcoming Café in the Park to Watford.

“We know how much people love spending time in our award-winning park and we are happy to once again provide them with places to relax and refuel.”
