London Fashion Week will have its very own woman from Watford take to the runway in a matter of days.

Chantelle Rance, 35, who lived in Watford until two years ago will be in the Top Model final on Saturday, September 16.

The model and actress is in the over 25 category and she told the Watford Observer she is thrilled to be in the show held in De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London.

She said: “I read the confirmation email three or four times. I was overwhelmed and so happy to be chosen.

“After lockdown, I thought I should give it a go. What’s the worst that could happen? All they could say is no.”

Ahead of the competition Chantelle and the other finalists have taken part in coaching sessions teaching them how to walk on the runway.

She said: “We have to wear 4-inch heels, it’s killer on the feet. But we are selling clothes and you need to nail the walk and showcase the outfit without stumbling.

“We even did the posture training where you have a book on your head – it’s a real thing.”

Chantelle, who went to Westbrook Hay Prep School in Hemel Hempstead and then Aldenham School in Radlett, said she has enjoyed meeting everyone taking part.

She said: “You hear some horrible stories about the modelling industry, but I haven’t met a bad person so far.”

If she wins her category Chantelle will go on to work with the Top Model Foundation for the next year.

The foundation is also raising money for sick children in need, and each model taking part has been asked to raise £500.

So far, Chantelle has raised £200 by launching a JustGiving Page and going door knocking in Flaunden where she now lives to be closer to family.

She thinks she will be “a little nervous” on the day of the show but wants to ensure she “enjoys it”.

It will be a good trial run for her as from November 27 to 30, she will be taking on the role of Miss England 2024 and heading to the finals of the Miss Europe pageant in Italy, which will be broadcast on Amazon Prime.
