A closed-down Watford pub has a new look as it gears up to reopen with a new operator.

The Oddfellows, in Fearnley Street, was boarded up in April when a temporary operator left on short notice.

Refurbishment plans were then submitted to Watford Borough Council in September, and it was confirmed that the boozer should open before Christmas.

There is clear progress towards this goal as the exterior changes to the building have been made in-line with the application.

The Oddfellows has been repainted and features a wall-sign with a new logo, window vinyls with the pub name, illuminated lettering, and several smaller signs across the front.

It will be run as a joint business venture between the operator, who will be self-employed and responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, and owner Star Pubs and Bars.

Earlier this month, a Star Pubs and Bars spokesperson said: “We're pleased to say The Oddfellows, Watford is due to reopen pre-Christmas after undergoing an extensive refurbishment.

“The new manager and his staff look forward to welcoming back customers to the revamped pub which offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, excellent food and drinks and a new outside seating area.”

A more specific opening date is currently expected in early- to mid-December.
