A warehouse is set to be brought back into industrial or commercial use as a gymnastics club plans to leave.

The owners of a Greycaine Road unit have put in a planning application to ask Watford Borough Council for permission to change its use so that it can be re-let for “appropriate commercial and industrial uses”.

It is currently occupied by Dolphina Gymnastics Centre, which will be moving to events venue Tanners Wood Hall in School Mead, Abbots Langley, from February 19.

The club was established in 1991 at Woodside Leisure Centre before moving to the YMCA and then the Greycaine Road location after receiving £50,000 in National Lottery funding.

After the move to its new Abbots Langley location, it will only be running classes Wednesday to Sunday.

Planning permission had been granted to change the use from Class B (suppliers) to be used as a gymnastics club in 2014.

The site falls within a designated industrial area and no physical works are proposed as part of the application.

According to a covering letter: “The lease of the existing tenant is due to expire in early 2024, and it is therefore necessary to provide appropriate Use Class E(g)iii, B2 and B8 flexibility, to ensure that the unit can be re-occupied for appropriate commercial and industrial uses, given the site’s located within a designated industrial area.”

The plan was submitted to Watford Borough Council On Christmas Day and added to the planning portal on Tuesday (January 2).
