Nando’s has submitted its plans to redesign the Watford restaurant unit it is set to take over this year.

The peri-peri chain which has more than 450 UK locations, including two in Watford town centre, confirmed rumours that it is planning to open a third site in the town at Woodside Leisure Park last year.

Plans submitted to Watford Borough Council yesterday (February 5) include placing the brand’s name, logo, and menu on the shopfront and also detail the interior arrangement with the seating, cookline, and other facilities customers would expect from a Nando’s.

The new location was confirmed after an earlier planning application to split the former Chiquito unit at the site into two was approved. It is now confirmed that Starbucks will be taking over the smaller part and Nando’s the larger space.

Meanwhile, Wagamama appears set to open in the former Frankie & Benny’s unit on the other side of Hollywood Bowl, next-door, after its own plans were submitted.

A Nando’s spokesperson had previously announced that it is planning to open the new Watford branch in 2024.
