Gym operators have shared an inside look at their brand new “better than ever” facilities.

The gym at William Penn Leisure Centre, in Shepherds Lane, Rickmansworth, was closed for refurbishment in December but the result of the £500,000 transformation has now been unveiled, alongside upgrades to its three studios.

Its space has had a complete layout redesign and now features advanced cardio and strength-training equipment as well as new treadmills, cross trainers, rowers, stair climbers, recumbent bikes, free weights, plate-loaded resistance machines, power racks, and a hip thrust station.

The group cycling studio has been redecorated and fitted out with Keiser bikes.

Regular member Nadia Milligan said she was really pleased with how efficiently classes were able to run during the closure, which she added “must have been a logistical nightmare”.

“We are all very fortunate to have top of the range facilities at our doorstep."

(Image: Everyone Active) Everyone Active contract manager John Sewell added: “We are thrilled to complete this major refurbishment and believe the community will benefit greatly from the enhanced gym and studio spaces.

“Our aim is to create more opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle.”

The improvements arrive alongside ongoing environmental improvements for the leisure centre.

Three Rivers District Council recently secured £152,800 from the government’s Swimming Pool Support Fund to put 500 solar panels on the roof and it is also installing electric vehicle chargers in the car park.

(Image: Everyone Active) Councillor Chris Lloyd, who is responsible for leisure in the district, said: “These upgrades will make the leisure centre even better for everyone – including the planet.

“We cannot wait for everyone to experience the new and improved facilities.

“If you have not been to William Penn this year, I would encourage you to come down”.
