Filming spotted at Watford pub The Southern Cross

Watford Observer Camera Club member Robb Cross spotted crews working outside The Southern Cross in Langley Road this afternoon (February 4).

Filming has been taking place at The Southern Cross pub in Watford. (Image: Robb Cross) It is unknown what is being filmed at the Greene King pub, with Watford Borough Council confirming only that it was arranged through the Hertfordshire Film Office.

It remains unknown exactly what is being filmed. (Image: Robb Cross) In neighbouring Croxley Green, the Harvester restaurant has told customers it will be closed next week while filming takes place.

In a social media post this morning, the eatery wrote: "We’ll be closed on Monday, February 10 as filming will be taking place at the Harvester. We’ll be back open as usual the next day, so we’ll see you then for all your favourites!"

No indication has been given of what will be filmed at the restaurant, although the Watford Observer has reached out for information.

The beginning of 2025 has once again seen plenty of filming in the town, including last week when parkgoers spotted crews in Cassiobury Park for what was later confirmed to be production on a six-part BBC series.

Croxley Green also saw a flurry of activity last month as Frankland Road and Bateman Road both saw camera crews descend, shooting an advert and what is believed to be a Netflix show respectively.

While filming always causes plenty of excitement, the recent production was somewhat marred by complaints over the parking "nightmare" it caused.

Speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio last week, staff at The Kitchen Croxley and Chartwell Dental Clinic both expressed frustration about the lack of parking space caused by the arrival of film crews, as well as no advanced warning given to businesses and residents.

The Hertfordshire Film Office launched in April 2023, promising to offer a dedicated one-stop service for filming in the county, including big budget Hollywood productions such as 2023's Wonka, which starred Timothée Chalamet.
