A casting call has gone out which appears to be calling for young extras to appear in HBO’s Harry Potter TV show.
Extra People, which has provided background actors for a wide range of film and TV including James Bond, Ted Lasso, and Slow Horses, is now working on “a major television series” shooting at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.
Although the name of the programme is not specified in the application, social media users have speculated it could well be Harry Potter, as the new adaptation was previously announced to begin filming at the studios on the edge of Watford this summer.
The casting call says that it wants children aged nine to 17 “that live within 45 minutes of Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden” of “all ethnicities and genders”.
Filming will apparently begin in July 2025, with “lots of days available” and “great rates of pay”.
“Experienced artists and newcomers welcome,” the advert added.
“No experience needed. You must be an early riser, have a great work ethic and professional attitude.”
Applications can be made online. Parents or guardians must fill in applications on behalf of applicants younger than 16.

Warner Bros is the production company behind the original films, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
The new, decade-long series, based on JK Rowling’s books, was announced in 2023 with HBO saying it would be “a faithful adaptation of the iconic books”.
“The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom, full of the fantastic detail, much loved characters and dramatic locations that Harry Potter fans have loved for over 25 years,” the company said at the time.
“Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.”
Following a casting call, announced in September, 32,000 children have auditioned for the lead roles, with the team reviewing up to 1,000 tapes per day, according to HBO.
