Harlequin looks set to welcome Sweet Potato Spirit Company

The Sweet Potato Spirit Company is planning to open a kiosk inside the Watford High Street shopping centre, where it would sell sweet potato-based moonshine to shoppers.

Advertised as a UK-first range, the line of spirits includes vodkas, gins, and liqueurs made through traditional methods using sweet potatoes grown and handpicked on its farm.

Entrance to The Harlequin (Image: Newsquest) An application for a licence to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises only, between 9am and 9pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays, was submitted to Watford Borough Council for the kiosk last week.

This remains pending consideration and no opening date has been announced.

The Sweet Potato Spirit Company does not have any physical shop units, but has set up kiosks and stalls at a range of locations including shopping centres, markets, and festivals.

Its products are also available to order online for delivery.
