"Major improvement" is needed at an Indian restaurant which received a 1/5 hygiene rating.
Akash Tandoori, at 195 Watling Street in Radlett, was visited by Hertsmere Borough Council for an inspection on December 12.
It was found generally satisfactory in terms of hygienic food handling, as well as the cleanliness and condition of its facilities and building.
However, the management of food safety category was rated ‘major improvement necessary’.
This refers to the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and whether the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

The business confirmed that “unfortunately” the proper paperwork “wasn’t quite right” during the inspection.
It added that all issues have since been addressed, with paperwork now up-to-date and the restaurant is awaiting a revisit.
Akash Tandoori previously held a 5/5 rating following an inspection on January 24, 2024.
