A new kitchen and bar is planned for a prominent empty spot in Watford High Street.
The former Colombia Press and Jardin unit, between Zoo Watford and Dunnings II in The Parade, is the subject of a planning application submitted to the borough council this week.
It seeks advertising consent to replace the signs and overall frontage for Jardin with new signage for a Thai restaurant business called Eatnua.
These will bear the company name alongside text saying ‘Thai kitchen & bar’ and ‘Thai street food’.
No further details of the business’ plans for the unit have been shared.

Eatnua has existing locations in Fitzrovia, High Wycombe, and Reading.
The Reading spot, which is the only one described as a ‘street food’ branch, offers a menu including Thai curries, platters, starters, noodle dishes, grills, stir fries, rice dishes, soups and salads.
Cocktails, draught beer, spirits and wine are also available on an extensive drinks menu.
The Colombia Press JD Wetherspoon branch shut as part of a "commercial decision" in February 2022. Jardin, a Mexican bar and restaurant, replaced it from July 2024 but closed after less than a year.
