Sainsbury’s has tightened its rules in a big change for Watford town centre parking.
Shoppers can now spend just 20 minutes in the Albert Road South store, off High Street, until they need to spend at least £10 in store before leaving.
This will provide the right to park in the bays for up to two hours, with customers otherwise liable for a £100 parking charge notice. There is no return within one hour.

Parking is being managed by Euro Car Parks, in partnership with Sainsbury’s, and signage in-store states that the changes are being made “to make it easier to find a space when you shop”.
When parking between 7am and 8pm Monday to Saturday or Sunday 10am to 4pm, customers must enter their vehicle registration number and scan their till receipt at a parking kiosk.
Customers do not need to do anything when entering the car park.
The changes come after an Aldi store opened over the road at the former Iceland unit in late June. The Aldi car park at the back of its store has a one-and-a-half-hour max stay and signs state that it is for use "only whilst shopping in store" or when charging electric vehicles.
