Reviews show one brand has locations at both the top and bottom of the list of Watford shoppers’ favourite supermarkets.
The Lidl in Lower High Street and the Aldi in Dalton Way, less than 200 metres from each other, are the two highest rated supermarkets in town based on Google reviews.
Each holds a rating of 4.3 stars.
Lidl customers particularly praised the "spacious" design, prices, and range of fresh produce, with Aldi receiving similar praise for its pricing as well as many comments on the "friendly" staff.
Meanwhile, the Aldi just off High Street in Albert Road South is currently the lowest rated with a 3.7 score. This is from a much smaller sample size than for any other store on the list, however, because it only opened earlier this summer.
The next lowest score is for the Asda by the Dome roundabout with a 3.8.
