14 Hertfordshire restaurants in British Kebab Awards noms

A leading Hertfordshire chef and 14 restaurants have been nominated for the British Kebab Awards.

The awards, set up by entrepreneur Ibrahim Dogus, celebrate local eateries serving the dish across the country with 22 categories from best fine dining restaurant to kebab van of the year.

Locations such as VU Lounge in Bushey have previously been nominated but this time the Watford area has failed to crack the semi-finalist list published last night.

However, several spots nearby are still in the running.

Here is the full list of nominated Hertfordshire restaurants:

  • Zakkum, High Street, Broxbourne - Best Kebab Restaurant (South of England)
  • Tarla Restaurant, Middle Row, Stevenage - Best Kebab Restaurant (South of England)
  • Misya Meze Grill, High Street, Stevenage - Customer Satisfaction
  • The Arch Restaurant, Shenley Road, Borehamwood – Best Value Restaurant
  • Balagan, Shenley Road, Borehamwood – Best Kosher Shwarma Restaurant and/or Takeaway
  • Bricky’s, Shenley Road, Borehamwood – Best Kosher Shwarma Restaurant and/or Takeaway
  • Losh Bar and Grill, Station Road, Harpenden - Best Newcomer Restaurant
  • Family Pizza Kebab House, Leys Avenue, Letchworth - Best Takeaway (South of England)
  • Habibi Grill, Chefz Hub, Hemel Hempstead - Best Takeaway (South of England)
  • Ayos Restaurant, Beaconsfield Road, St Albans - Best Value Restaurant
  • Doner Bros Ltd, Southfield Road, Hoddesdon - Customer Satisfaction
  • Haz Restaurant, High Road, Wormley - Fine Dining Restaurant
  • Veyso’s Brasserie, Fore Street, Hertford - Fine Dining Restaurant
  • Pircio, Drill Hall, Bishop's Stortford – Fine Dining Restaurant

Additionally, Ahmet Kabayel at Pircio in Bishop’s Stortford has been nominated for chef of the year.

Finalists will be revealed on October 15, before winners are announced on February 23, 2027.
