Food hygiene standards have been generally high in Watford, according to the Food Standards Agency.

Establishments in Watford have continued to impress inspectors, as recent ratings issued are mainly ‘high’ or ‘very high’

In fact, one of the nine ratings recently published in Watford were ‘generally satisfactory’, and all other ratings were high.

However in the Three River District, a pub was told that improvement is necessary after getting a rating of 2.

The Dumb Bell at Shire Lane was inspected on June 24 and local authority inspectors concluded that improvement for their hygienic food handling was necessary.

Other aspects – including the cleanliness of the facilities and management of food safety was ‘generally satisfactory’.

Local Authority Inspectors have been inspecting an uptick of establishments across the local area in recent months after a hiatus in the beginning of the year.

The inspections are to make sure that food hygiene is up to code and holds good food safety standards.

Ratings on a scale are then issued to rank the hygiene standards at the time of inspection.

Five is top of the scale, meaning the hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law and zero is at the bottom of the scale, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.
