A video reveals fashion designer and former footballer Marvin Morgan’s last wish in supporting struggling families across Watford this Christmas.

Fresh Ego FC, a football club launched by Morgan, is a team that engages with local schools and youth football teams to inspire young people and also raise money for charities.

Shortly before Morgan’s sudden death last week, he created a promotional video encouraging everyone in the community to donate various goods to help struggling families and make a difference.

Last year over £2,000 worth of food and toys for 35 families were donated over Christmas, to support those struggling from general poverty and during the pandemic.

Mr Davis said that donations last year sparked “tears” with some families and that “Christmas for these families literally changed”.

This year the project has the support of Xtra Time, Puma, Xbox, Unique Sports Management and Avenue heating.

Nearly 70 families have reached out for help, and potentially even more could be helped this year.

Donors are asked to either send in money through a GoFundMe page, or to donate everyday essentials such as toiletries, non-perishable foods and also any clothes or toys and gifts that could brighten the mood for many.

Mr Davis said: “Marvin was one of the most genuine, good-hearted people you will ever meet.

“The stories that have been told since his passing all tell similar tales – of a man who was always willing to go the extra mile to support encourage and guide those he came in contact with, acting as a mentor and confident to many."

He added: “Given Marvin’s untimely passing, we are hoping now more than ever that the community will come together and help make Marvin’s last wish a success and leave a lasting legacy in his memory.”
