Elton John fever has swept through Watford after the music legend returned to the town as part of his farewell tour.

Thousands of fans packed Vicarage Road as the boyhood Watford fan performed some of his greatest hits to an adoring crowd.

To celebrate Sir Elton coming home, two murals honouring both his football and musical heritage have been painted – and the town’s people could be about to demonstrate its love for the singer-songwriter even further.

The request has gained traction with Watford mayor Peter Taylor saying he “loves” the idea and said the council and Watford Museum are looking into it.

A poll by the mayor of over 1,000 has seen around 85 per cent vote in favour of renaming the road Yellow Brick Road.
