A man is set to go on trial at crown court after he was charged with strangling a woman.

Abdi Guiled, 32, is accused of intentional strangulation in Watford on July 3 as well as assault, threatening and coercive behaviour between February and July this year.

Guiled, who lives in Cullington Close, Harrow, denied the charges over video link in St Albans Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 4.

He will be kept in custody until the trial, which is currently scheduled for August 1 at St Albans Crown Court.

The alleged offences had a "serious effect" on the woman, according to court documents.

Manny Matomby, 30, has been fined after assaulting a man in Watford on February 4, 2021.

Matomby, who lives in Kilburn Lane, London, had also been charged with beating a woman on the same day but was found not guilty.

Matomby denied both charges but on July 4 he found guilty of assaulting the man and ordered to pay £912.
