Roadworks along one of the busiest routes in and out of Watford are set to last until the end of the week.

Queues have been reported in Hempstead Road after temporary traffic lights were installed on Monday.

Cadent Gas is carrying out planned work opposite the junction with Dellfield Close.

Two-way lights are in operation, causing delays in both directions in Hempstead Road – particularly during rush hour.

Hertfordshire County Council has granted Cadent Gas a permit of until Friday July 15 to complete the work which means delays are likely to last until that date.

Further roadworks are planned along this part of Hempstead Road on July 21. There will be multi-way signals in place near the junction with Woodfield Close.

However, it appears these traffic lights will only be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm in order to minimise disruption to drivers as much as possible.

The planned repair and maintenance work on July 21 is being carried out by the county council.
