A thoughtful seven-year-old tried to spend her birthday money on breakfast for residents displaced by the Meriden tower fire.

Lara Ann Baldwin and her husband Brian were among the first to call emergency services at 4.45am yesterday after spotting the blaze at Abbey View tower.

They then drove to Asda to buy breakfast and water for the residents - but their kind-hearted daughter, Daisy, also wanted to do her bit.

Brian, who lives in Qatar but was staying with family nearby, said: “She had all her birthday money with her and said, ‘I’ll buy it’.

“But then ASDA stepped in and said they would buy it all.”

Lara added: "Daisy makes us so proud in the way she strives to make sure others are safe and well and cared for.
