A woman had to fly out to her destination wedding without a dress after she claims a bridal shop “botched” it.

Geminee Sironi, 40, took her dress to David’s Bridal in Watford for alterations, where she said the store put off work on her dress for weeks before eventually offering to do it in two days and “botching” the alterations.

Geminee said she went to get the altered dress back on July 1 but found work had not started.

A few days later, when she tried it on, she said it was completely ruined.

Despite further appointments, and taking the dress elsewhere, she was unable to get it repaired in time to fly out for her destination wedding in Italy on July 23.

The health and social care worker said: “There was a gash in it, it was basically gaping.

“It felt so tight, like a size zero dress, in some areas and really lose in others.

“They said they were short staffed, but if they can’t do it, then tell me so that I can go somewhere else.”

Geminee tried to take it elsewhere for repairs afterwards, but was told it was too short notice.

She added that she was unable to work on other preparations for her wedding as she spent so long on the dress.

“I was fuming, David’s eventually told me I had to take it to the Stratford branch to fix it instead, less than a week before I had to fly out.

“I didn’t have time to do all that with the wedding so close.

“We had to call consumer advice and finally refunded the dress but not the alterations to it, and I was left with no wedding dress.”

A spokesperson for David's Bridal UK said: "The perfect fit can sometimes take two or three appointments and we always advise a first fitting is done a minimum of six to eight weeks before the wedding to allow time for multiple fittings if required.

“On this occasion, the customer did not give us the opportunity to finalise the alterations for her.

“We offered a full refund on her dress and the majority of the alterations cost."
