Watford FC’s charity has called for donations of good quality school wear to help financially struggling families have free uniforms.

The call comes after Hertfordshire County Council urged parents not to use loan sharks if they are struggling to pay for their children’s school uniforms.

The Meriden Community Centre facility, which is managed by Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust, will be accepting donations on Monday to Friday from 10am to 8pm and Saturdays from 10am to 3pm.

Centre manager Vanessa Wright said: “We know that due to the increase in energy and fuel costs during the cost-of-living crisis, we are all looking to save money wherever possible.

“Our aim is to support local people by helping them access free second-hand school wear.”

The community centre in Garsmouth Way, WD25 9ET will collect uniforms, PE wear, coats, bags and shoes.
