A housing association customer has issued a warning after she was targeted by a known scam aimed at gaining entry to Watford homes.
Dee Hart reported receiving the call, from someone claiming to be a contractor hired by Watford Community Housing Trust, asking about outstanding repairs to the home.
Mrs Hart's daughter, who answered the phone, decided the call “didn't sit right” and called the association directly, it confirmed it was not aware of a contractor making calls.

Within hours of the warning being shared on Facebook, two more residents reported getting the same call yesterday (September 12).
Watford Community Housing has said: “Customers have reported their concerns to us after they were contacted by people claiming to represent Watford Community Housing.
“These are usually someone posing as a contractor for Watford Community Housing, saying they will require access to your home to carry out works or surveys.
“Please do not allow anyone into your home until you are sure they are a genuine representative of Watford Community Housing or one of our contractors.”
