A “deafening” alarm at a major new housing development has rung for days at a time, forcing those nearby to sleep with televisions on to drown it out.
Cortland Cassiobury, home to a 24-storey tower, in Ascot Road, by Morrisons, is nearing completion with residents set to begin moving in from spring 2023.
But Nitin Chadha, 44, has raised concerns about a “deafening” alarm plaguing neighbours during the development.
Mr Chadha, who lives in a nearby complex with his wife and daughter, said: “It is deafening, it goes off for days, not just during the day but at night too.
“People are working and can’t fall asleep, they need to put the TV on all day just to drown it out.
“Over the past two years the alarm will just go on and on for days, it has happened again and again.
“This year it has become such a nuisance that we’ve had to go to the manager multiple times."

The banker added that when people whose sleep was being affected first went to complain they were told by the building manager that it was not coming from the building.
He said: “We had to take a video and show them.”
Mr Chadha added that he is concerned about what will happen if nothing changes before hundreds of people are moved in.
“On one hand it’s a nuisance and there is a social responsibility not to cause such a disturbance.
“The other thing is... are they not going to react to a general alarm and sort it out when there are people living there? It’s a high-rise building.”
The alarm, which has reportedly regularly lasted for two to three days, can be clearly heard in a video taken by Mr Chadha from his flat.
The tower is part of a part of the wider Cortland Cassiobury development, which is currently 485 homes, but has the potential to expand to around 800.
A spokesperson for the developer, Cortland, apologised and explained the alarm was triggered by dust particles, adding: "As soon as we were notified of this issue, our construction contractor conducted a thorough investigation.
"We can confirm that there is no risk, and our team have since arranged a thorough deep clean of all smoke alarm heads."
