Roadworks have temporarily shut a road leading in and out of Watford town centre.

Affinity Water says it is carrying out “essential maintenance” in Bushey Hall Road.

The work is taking place between the railway tunnel and the junction of Greatham Road and a full closure of this road is in place.

Drivers travelling between Bushey and Watford are affected. There is no access from Water Lane, by the ring road, through to Bushey or vice versa.

The closure was put in place in yesterday (Tuesday October 25) and Affinity Water has been granted a permit by Hertfordshire County Council that allows the road to stay shut until the end of tomorrow (Thursday).

Due to it being half-term, the closure is not causing as much disruption as it might do if schools were open.

Meanwhile, there will be multi-way traffic lights at the junction of Bushey Hall Road, Greatham Road, and Bushey Grove Road between 9.30am and 3.30pm on November 4 due to work being carried out by Openreach.
