New data has shown how average earnings stack up in Watford, Three Rivers, and Hertsmere.

The figures released by the Office for National Statistics shows national average incomes across different local authorities.

Watford and Three Rivers both come in above the UK national average gross income of £27,756, while Hertsmere is slightly lower.

In Hertsmere, people earn £81 less than the average figure while they earn £2,159 more in Watford and £4,909 more in Three Rivers.

Mean earnings rose 9.3% in Watford from 2021 to 2022 while rising 5.3% in Hertsmere.

Three Rivers was among the areas with the largest rise in earnings at 16.1%, representing the 12th largest rise of 408 local authorities.

Across the UK mean earnings saw an annual rise of 4.2%.

Nearby St Albans tops the region with people earning an average of £36,416, £8,660 more than the rest of the UK.

Wandsworth, in London, had the highest average earnings in the UK at £42,665.

According to the ONS the Consumer Prices Index rose by 8.8% in the 12 months to September 2022.
