The ambulance service has confirmed why an air ambulance was sent to Watford town centre this afternoon.
Crews were called to a "medical emergency" in Market Street before a man was taken to Watford General Hospital in a "serious condition", the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed.
A spokesperson said two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer car and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent shortly after 12.40pm (December 7).

The first response arrived within eight minutes of the report before the man was taken to hospital by ground ambulance shortly after 1.30pm.
An air ambulance doctor stayed with the man in the ground ambulance until they arrived at Watford General Hospital, the spokesperson added.
