An “accident waiting to happen” telecoms cabinet has been moved after it was branded “absolute insanity”.

A Virgin Media unit was installed on the corner of Dickinson Square in Croxley Green, which then leads into Dickinson Avenue on January 12.

Karl Deimbacher branded the location “literally absurd” because it is in a “blind spot” immediately after a corner.

At the time a Virgin Media spokesperson said it was “always happy to listen to residents’ concerns and consider other locations”.

A Virgin Media team has since met with Mr Deimbacher to understand his concerns.

“On this occasion, we took the decision to move the cabinet,” the spokesperson added.

Work to remove it started on Monday (January 16).

The Croxley resident said: “As if by magic - the dangerous lurking Virgin cabinet has been moved across the pavement to stand next to its friends. Out of the way and by the kerb.

“Well done to Virgin - who listened, saw they'd got it wrong, and put it right.”

The 60-year-old resident also said he was now put off raising issues like this after experiencing online “hate” when he raised the problem.

He added: “Who is there to keep an eye on these permitted developments, individual residents?

“I for one won't bother again after all the hate online.”
