A High Street clothing store appears set to permanently shut after a fashion chain entered administration.

M&Co in Rickmansworth High Street was included in the list of locations under threat when the company publicly announced its collapse on December 9, last year.

It has now been reported, in The Sun, that a sale of the M&Co brand and intellectual property to the owner of Yours Clothing did not include its 170 stores – meaning they will permanently shut.

This includes the Rickmansworth location which had survived a previous wave of closures in 2020.

At the time 47 stores were culled, leaving 218 open as part of a “major restructuring” designed to secure the company’s long-term future.

M&Co, which was founded in Scotland in 1961, was one of the largest privately-owned fashion retailers in the UK. It specialises in womenswear, menswear, kidswear and homeware.

Online customers can expect to receive a full refund if needed but in-store customers may only get a refund in the form of a product of the same value or a gift card.
