A Watford man has been slapped with a community order after he was caught carrying a knuckle duster.

David Kilbey pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on February 3.

On January 16, the 46-year-old had the knuckle duster, which was taken and destroyed, at Euston railway station without a reasonable excuse.

Kilbey, of Watford Field Road, will have to work for 60 hours unpaid after the court made a community order. He was also ordered to pay £199 in costs and a victims services surcharge.

The 19-year-old had travelled on an Avanti West Coast train in Watford Junction on June 21, 2021, with the intent of avoiding paying the £40 ticket.

He admitted the charge at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on February 10 this year.
