Police had to stop a speeding Dacia after its driver “brought the Grand Prix to the village”, before finding drugs in the car.

Yesterday (February 5), Hertfordshire Constabulary officers took a passenger in to Abbots Langley police station after spotting “speeding and poor driving” in Breakspeare Road.

When the driver, who had reportedly been “channelling their inner Max Verstappen”, was stopped, officers smelt cannabis which was handed over by one of the car’s two passengers.

One passenger was taken to the station and dealt with out of custody, due to the “low-level offence” of cannabis possession and no other offences being identified.

A police officer apparently dealt with the driver "robustly" and told him: “Do not attempt the same level of driving witnessed on the television.

"Whilst on the roads of Hertfordshire, all stunts or fast driving is done by trained professionals on closed racetracks.”

The police officers had been enforcing speed limits in Gallows Hill Lane and Trowley Rise with calibrated speed guns, and plan to do the same at other hot spots in Three Rivers “in due course”.
