Residents have been casting their votes today in the local council elections, but when will the results be confirmed?

Polling stations across Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere will be open from 7am to 10pm on May 4.

But voters will not find out the results until Friday, May 5.

In Watford, the count will be taking place at Watford Leisure Centre – Central Peace Prospect. Counting will start at 9.30am and is expected to end at around 3pm.

Three Rivers District Council's count will be held in Watersmeet, Rickmansworth.

It will be starting its verification process at 9.30am with counting to follow. The council said it is expecting to start declarations around midday and to be finished around 4pm.

Hertsmere's count will begin overnight on Thursday and resume at 10am. It is expected to finish early afternoon.

The Dacorum Borough Council will start counting tonight and is expected to finish by tomorrow afternoon.

Voters have been asked to remember their ID, such as a passport even if it has expired as long as IDs show a true likeness to the holder.

Those who are registered to vote would have been sent a poll card in advance that will include details of your polling station.
